How do we host host weddings, funerals and other large events as Covid is between pandemic and endemic? How do you have a wedding celebration and encourage less cautious family members to wear masks — not just stir up family fights?

Covid Safer Travel has a few ideas when people are traveling towards your event. We're going to assume you've learned the basics elsewhere and aim to provide creative resources. Our first two try to get us away from arguing politics with family members, and either make it more personal — ask for a favor rather than tell people what to do, or less personal — let the hotel tell people what to do.

  1. Better mask signage. People don't tend to wear masks based on signs telling them what to do. Many do wear masks based on the culture: if they see people are wearing masks, they will too. We suggest putting your faces on the signage: grab our templates
  2. Coming soon. Don't tell me what to do! Family relationships are breaking as we argue over Covid. If you are hosting an event at a venue — let them do the dirty work. Request a hotel to tighten their Covid policy for your banquet hall or whatever space you've rented, request that they put up signage in their name. Then you can tell your relatives something like "Hotel policy is that you have to wear a mask before and after the meal."
